About Dangote Oil Refining Company

Situated within the state-of-the-art Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, the Dangote Oil Refinery is the largest single-train refinery globally, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) As Africa’s most ambitious downstream project, this $19–20 billion facility anchors Nigeria’s shift from fuel importer to exporter .

Refinery Operations & Product Range

Designed as an integrated petrochemical hub, the site includes:

• A Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) with downstream refining units (RFCC, MHC, Alky units, etc.)

• Production of Euro-V clean fuels: gasoline, diesel, jet fuel

• A petrochemical segment producing polypropylene, sulphur, LPG, carbon black feed

• A fully integrated fertilizer plant utilizing refinery by-products 

Annual outputs include:

• 10.4 million tonnes gasoline

• 4.6 million tonnes diesel

• 4 million tonnes jet fuel

• 0.69 million tonnes polypropylene

• Additional volumes of sulphur, propane, and carbon feedstocks 

Strategic Vision & Impact

This mega-refinery supports Nigeria’s strategy to:

• Replace over $10–16 billion in annual fuel imports

• Stabilize domestic fuel supply and curb forex exit

• Generate ~9,500 direct jobs and 25,000 indirect roles

• Enable export of refined fuel to regional markets.

The project is also a key part of Dangote’s vertically integrated model — transforming crude into fuel, petrochemicals, and fertilizer to support nation-building.

Sustainability & Infrastructure

• Built around a marine terminal and jetty for efficient receipt of equipment and products, reducing road congestion in Apapa Port Dangote Industries Limited

• Features on-site hydrogen generation and sulphur recovery for green fuel

• Infrastructure includes storage tanks, pipelines, and idle support facilities tailored for operational resilience and environmental performance
